bookobscure was established in February 2013 by Sayaka Fukuda ACR, an accredited member of The Institute of Conservation and a licentiate member of Designer Bookbinders. All projects are looked after by Sayaka Fukuda from inception to completion, this ensures the quality of work within agreed timeframe and budget. Every project is approached as a unique project and assessed with consideration for its individual circumstances. All initial recommendations include current best practice but alternative treatment options are also available in order to create flexibility for suitability to the scale of the project. All materials used for conservation treatment are carefully chosen from trusted sources. Materials that come in direct contact, such as Japanese papers, are especially selected with a great care and directly purchased from the maker and a data-sheet can be provided on request. We work for both private clients and institutions. Past clients include: The Victoria & Albert Museum, Cartier Archives, The Clothworkers Company, Wellcome Trust and many others.
